Thought for the Day: You can hear God speak to you. (Yes, you!)

Every now and then, my morning journaling time becomes more about what the Lord is saying to me than the other way around.  These are the times that I feel as though I have hit the bulls-eye in my devotion time.  After all, what’s more meaningful – pouring out my prayers and requests to the Lord or hearing His direction and wisdom on a matter? My words are important, and my prayers are a delight to the Lord, but when He chooses to enter my Here-and-Now and speak a word of comfort, direction or wisdom, I just can’t write fast enough! Below is one of those simple words that came while I was pressing in in prayer regarding some issues in my finances and my ministry that just weren’t budging.  I was fighting off discouragement as I looked at how many years I have prayed about some of these things. Let’s see what Jesus had to say:

“I am the God of the In-Between. I will fulfill every promise to you.  And in between the promise and its fulfillment, I will hold you and carry you. Stay close to Me. Don’t turn from My Word. Don’t turn to the left or to the right.  My promises are certain and My ways are sure and solid. I will never leave you or forsake  you. Make sure that you stay close to Me. Open your heart to Me and let’s be together. Pressure comes from you, not from Me. Peace and joy and overwhelming love come My holy presence. Surround Me with your love and it will deepen. I will take the seed and give you back a harvest.”

Now you:

  • Do you hear the Lord speak to you this way?
  • Do you believe that Jesus wants to speak to you as His child?
  • Do you know that you can hear Him speak to you?

Every child of God can hear His voice. God is no respecter of persons, the Bible says in Acts 10:34. That means that God answers the faith of whosoever.

I remember when I was first taught that I could hear God speak to me and that I could write down what He said.  When I started trying to journal what I thought I was hearing, I felt so foolish! I felt like I was making it all up! But here’s how I knew that I wasn’t making it up: As I kept practicing my ability to hear God’s voice, I began to write things down that were so correcting, aligning and freeing that I couldn’t have made it up.  The words carried such life that the more I meditated on them, the more I began to change. That could not have come inside me or else I would have been changed and found freedom long ago! Further, the words that the Lord speaks to me are always in alignment with the Word of God.  My thoughts are not always in alignment with God’s word, so that’s a big litmus test right there! And finally, the proof has been in the pudding, so to speak, in that I have grown in my ability to hear not only for myself, but for others as well.  And when I have ministered what the Lord wants me to say to other people, He has blown them (and me!) away with His accuracy and knowledge of their heart struggles.

But I had to start with the basics – getting a notebook, putting myself in the place of worship and then asking the Lord to speak about a situation or whatever He felt I needed to hear. Cool, huh?

You can hear God speak to you, too! Don’t believe the lie that you can’t!

John 10: 4-5a: When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. A stranger they simply will not follow…

The Season of Breakthrough: It’s time to go to the next level

Galaxy.jpg

On Sunday, May 21st, the Lord impressed this word on my heart and I shared it with our congregation. (See note at bottom of post.)

I the Lord declare that this is a new season.  This is a season of Breakthrough – a season where you are rising to another level. This is a season where obstacles are being removed, shackles are being pulled off, and fetters are being shattered by My Spirit says the Lord. You as My children, and you as My Church, ascend up the steps to My Presence, says the Lord.  You are being drawn my My grace. Rivers of mercy, rivers of My lovingkindness are drawing you as a lover is drawn to the Bridegroom.  You hear My voice.  Your heart is being tenderized in this to love Me, to yearn for Me, to know that there is no other satisfaction; that this earth has nothing for you; that all that you long for and all that you are is found in Me and in Me alone.  You will no longer be satisfied by other lovers. You will no longer be satisfied by paltry things.  For it’s the richness of My presence that will draw your heart and satisfy your soul. You will yearn for Me in the night season.  You will yearn for Me when you wake in the morning.  Your heart will be so stirred by My voice.  Obedience will be easy.  You will walk in My ways.  You will run in the paths I lay out for you.  And you will show forth My Glory in a season where the darkness wants to roll in.  My Light is brighter. My light shines forth and drives back darkness.  You show forth My Power and My glory as My children and as the Church. And now I say, Children, turn your heart to Me. Turn your heart to Me. As you turn your heart to Me, you are drawn. And you will find Me when you seek Me with all your heart, says the Lord.

Now you:

  • Do you need to see breakthrough in certain areas of your life or in the lives of those you love?
  • Has there been a particular issue that has caused you to be in bondage or kept you contained?

Know this: It’s never God’s will for you to be bound or contained by anything.  If you are a child of God, your position has already been established in God’s Word in the book of Ephesians. According to Ephesians 2:6 you are seated with Christ in heavenly places. “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,”.

And according to Ephesians 1:21, Jesus Christ is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named.  So where does that put you? Far above everything that would try to push you down and place you in a prison of doubt, fear and lack – if you remain in Christ.

Ephesians 1:19B-21: “These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

God has declared that this is a season of Breakthrough.  I am not the only one who is hearing this from God.  Many ministries all over the world have declared the same thing. And when the Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, speaks that He is moving in a certain way, it is our responsibility to get on board with what He is doing and not tarry. The Lord creates the seasons and we align our faith to them.  That’s the part we play in response to the voice of the Lord.

This is really good news! In these last days, God is pouring out His Spirit to draw us closer, to hear Him more clearly, to obey Him more completely and to love Him passionately.

Be blessed!

Note: It may seem from my two recent posts regarding prophetic words from the Lord that I do this every Sunday, but I don’t.  Recently, however, the Lord has been drawing me into a season of fasting and prayer where He is speaking to me and pulling me closer than I have ever been. I sense His Presence and His leading so much more clearly right now. I know that He has a purpose for this and I am trying to be as yielded as I can.

Prophetic Word, May 7th, 2017, Christian Life Church, Eliot, Maine

On Sunday, May 7th, the Lord impressed this word on my heart and I shared it with our congregation.

For I the Lord am the God of Resurrection. I took the shame of the cross and I resurrected my Son to glory as the Firstborn from the dead. Is anything too hard for Me?, says the Lord. Is anything too hard for Me? What is impossible for man is possible for Me. I take your shame, I take your regret, and only I can make something beautiful, something lovely, something praiseworthy.  I take the vats of tears that you have cried alone in the darkness and I make praise for My glory. You no longer sit alone in shame but you have a two-fold reward, says the Lord. For you have an inheritance that you have not earned.  You have a repayment that has been purchased by the blood of my Son.  I resurrect those dead things to the newness of life.  The years that have seemed wasted are being returned to you in joy, in strength and power and testimony to the goodness of your God, to the faithfulness of Your Lord.  You have not been forgotten.  You have not been forsaken.  These years and these days have never been wasted.  Your life belongs to me.  And I restore and I create and I bring forth life and beauty and wholeness.  You hang on to Me, says the Lord, for the power is in Me, it is not in you.  The battle is Mine, says the Lord, and the victory is Mine and the praise is Mine.   The people are Mine.  You are My children and you will not be defeated.  What can overcome you? What can overcome the children of the Most High God? What foe will be able to stand in your presence as I enfold you, as I enfold you with My Presence? Who will be able to defeat the children of the Most High God? For surely the day is coming – surely this season of regret is passing away and you will have the testimony of strength, the testimony of My grace and glory. Walk now in the peace of knowing that your days are in My hands, says the Lord.

Now you:

Are you in a season that seems like a wasteland? Do you feel dry and discouraged? Are you concerned that you have wasted years that add up to nothing?

Turn your heart to the Lord and receive His word for you today.  Begin to declare a new season of fruitfulness and peace over your heart and mind.  Begin to exalt the Lord OVER your circumstances and see Him move mountains and bring fulfillment to the parts of your heart that are shut down.  Only the Lord can create life out of dead things.  He will do it when we turn our hearts completely to Him and give Him the praise that is due Him. As we praise Him, He comes into the places that we can’t fix and He does what only a Creator can do – He restores and revives us.

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father, I come to You on my knees and ask You to do in my heart what only You can do.  There are parts of my heart that don’t feel alive anymore.  I have hoped and been disappointed and now death reigns there.  I have seen hardship and it has hardened me.  I have gone through the fire and I feel like my heart is scarred as a result.  So I ask you to revive the love for You that You planted in me as a seed.  I ask that You would resurrect my dead dreams and show me how everything is working for my good as I love You with all my heart.  I want to walk in Your ways.  Please guide me and re-fire me.  I am so grateful that I can run to a Heavenly Father who has seen all of my tears and enfolds me with His Love.  Don’t let me be overcome by the enemy of my soul.  Hold me close and make me strong again in your love.
